EPCOT at Walt Disney World is two parks in one. Well actually it’s two worlds within “The World”. Future World and The World Showcase.
That’s a lot of world.
Can you say that ten times fast? It comes out like twrfrwrlonwrld and kinda sounds like your talking with your mouth full of caramel.
Which is a good thing because I love caramel.
Remember those sweet commercials for Werther’s Original Caramel candies; the ones where it shows a little boy from days gone by tasting his first Werther’s caramel and then cuts to that boy as an elderly man taking his grandson to the same store for his first candy? Yeah I loved that too.
In 2010 EPCOT opened the only free standing Werther’s store in not just the United States but the whole world. No I mean the big world, Earth world. Let me tell you, you’re in for a real treat.
There are ceiling to floor shelves of every variety of the caramel & chocolate candies we have all come to know and love; from hard to soft to cream filled and chewy; the store carries them all.
They come in bags and boxes, cans and collector tins. Take your pick. No take one of each, trust me you’ll want to.
But what you can’t get in your grocers sweet treat isle are the hand dipped caramel apples or this
Yes there is a chocolate cupcake as well.
and don’t forget these.
Strawberries, cupcakes, caramel fudge; did you notice the German chocolate caramel fudge in that second photo? I thought you might.
Delicious decadent in three cases, all made on site, from scratch right in front of you by Werther’s Candy Wizards.
Just in case you’re not a “huge” fan of caramel that’s ok,
Well actually, perhaps not.
You may want to get that checked.
But until you’re cured there are other delectable delights to tempt any sweet tooth; like these
and of course this
What is that funky thing making your eyes cross and mouth water on the left side of the photo?
Saw that did you?
Ah yes that would this,
Makes you lightheaded just looking at it doesn’t it?
Mr. Sweet Butter can not come to Disney without making a stop at this amazing little place and trust me there is no twisting my arm to drag me along; my feet seem to float in the general direction of this shop every time we stroll through the World Showcase. I have to admit next to La Patisserie at the French Pavilion this is my favorite stopping place.
So what does Mr. Sweet Butter indulge on?
No, not one of those serious indulgence you see above. No he’s a traditional kind of man. He prefers a simple caramel apple, sometimes accompanied by a vanilla cupcake.
Me? I’m happy with a bag (or two) of classic Werther’s Originals. I actually haven’t braved the Rocky Road yet.
Next time I’ll take you with me. In the meantime I have a recipe for caramel. You can find it here in my Bananas Foster Cupcake recipe. Simply omit the rum and for a creamier more buttery flavor add 1/2 stick of unsalted pure butter to the sauce in the beginning. You may need to tweak it a bit to get it just right.
Use a thermometer and cook to different temperatures for different results. As a sauce cook to the recipe. A bit longer for dipping apples and to hard crack stage for your own caramel candies.
Are you a caramel lover? If so what is your favorite treat?
If not feel free to email me, I know a few good psychiatrists to help you. :0)
